Market access technology provider Vela has expanded its systematic internaliser (SI) data hub with the addition of Virtu Financial.
Virtu Financial joins the list of electronic liquidity providers delivering market data to Vela’s SI data hub, which offers users bespoke SI price feeds.
The SI data hub also provides clients with best bid and offer feeds for a full view of an asset’s liquidity across various venues.
Head of business operations for EMEA at Vela, Ollie Cadman, explained the feed handler integration process means, “as more firms register as SIs, we can work with them to become a member of our SI Data Hub and ensure our mutual clients are receiving the data.”
Christiaan Scholtes, head of EMEA markets at Virtu Financial, added that integrating the liquidity streams through Vela also allows greater access Virtu’s equity and ETF liquidity with a more cost-effective connectivity service.
In November, Virtu Financial looked to improve its SI offering ahead of MiFID II and teamed up with market data technology provider QuantHouse to expand access to its SI platform.
Virtu also confirmed plans to register as an SI within Europe through its division in Dublin, Ireland.
