Japan Exchange Group
(JPX), the Daiwa Institute of Research and the Myanmar Economic Bank have
signed a joint venture agreement for the establishment of the Yangon Stock
Exchange, to be Myanmar’s first stock exchange.
The parties have been engaged in discussions since May 2012, when a memorandum
of understanding regarding the establishment of a stock exchange was concluded
between Central Bank of Myanmar, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Group, Inc. (the
predecessor of JPX) and Daiwa.
JPX and Daiwa will now work together with the stock exchange preparatory
committee formed by the ministry of finance for the establishment of a joint
venture company in preparation for the launch of the stock exchange in 2015.
Trading Myanmar comes one step closer
