Soc Gen clearing head joins Euronext as chief tech officer

Euronext reveals leadership overhaul following chief operating officer Jos Dijsselhof’s decision to depart.

The head of Societe Generale’s US prime brokerage and clearing business has departed to join Euronext as chief information and technology officer.

Alain Courbebaisse was one of Societe Generale’s most senior technology experts, previously serving as global chief information officer for Newedge, prior to its integration with the French bank.

Beginning his role in June, Courbebaisse will lead Euronext’s technology projects, including the roll out of its new trading platform Optiq and preparing the next stages of its IT infrastructure.

“As we deploy our agility for growth strategic plan, driven by IT projects and business initiatives, Alain will bring his long-term IT experience in the finance industry,” said Stéphane Boujnah, CEO and chairman, Euronext.

While at Societe Generale, he managed the prime brokerage and clearing business and was also head of sales for prime services in the Americas.

Several other leadership changes were confirmed by Euronext, including Jos Dijsselhof, its chief operating officer, who will depart after three years with the exchange group.

Maurice van Tilburg, currently CEO of Euronext Amsterdam, will become head of market operations in charge of Euronext Market Services, on top of his current responsibilities.
