SimCorp taps BlackRock for new head of Americas

New appointment spent the last nine years at BlackRock, most recently as managing director, and previously held positions at Barclays and Citi.

SimCorp has appointed Allen Zimmerman as managing director, head of Americas, effective today.

Zimmerman will lead SimCorp within the region – including the firm’s analytics business Axioma – defining strategic direction and helping realise SimCorp’s growth aspirations in the Americas.

He joins from BlackRock, where he served as a managing director, focusing on business development for the firm’s investment management technology offering since 2015.

Zimmerman brings 18 years of experience in financial services, including senior roles with the portfolio analytics and quantitative models businesses at Barclays and Citi. He also has experience in front-office modelling.

“I am delighted to welcome Allen to SimCorp as the leader of our growing Americas team,” said Christian Kromann, chief executive at SimCorp.

“Allen has emerged as an outstanding leader, bringing deep expertise in understanding clients and a track record of successfully expanding investment technology businesses. […] Allen’s track record of delivering outstanding client results will be instrumental in driving our further expansion in this key region.”

Based in New York, Zimmerman will report to Oliver Johnson, chief revenue officer, and will focus on furthering growth within the Americas region.

“With 360 clients across the Americas, SimCorp already has a strong presence in the region, and I am energised by the challenge of leading initiatives here and delivering value to our clients,” said Zimmerman.

“As market conditions increase the demand for investment managers to operate more efficiently, SimCorp stands well-prepared for sustained growth in the Americas.”

Zimmerman’s appointment follows a string of senior hires at SimCorp in the Americas. This includes Eric Lapham as head of asset management sales; Sarah Langile as head of sales Canada; and Gretchen Garrigues as global chief marketing officer.
