SGX elects new chairman of board

Directors at SGX have chosen Kwa Chong Seng as its new chairman of the board.

Singapore Exchange (SGX) has announced the appointment of Kwa Chong Seng as the new chairman of its board.

Chong Seng was elected by the directors at SGX to assume the role as of next month.

Current chairman - Chew Choon Seng - is set to retire at SGX’s annual general meeting on 22 September this year, after being elected in January 2011.

He said that SGX will be “well steered”, under Chong Seng’s leadership.

The new chairman was first appointed to the board in September 2012, before heading up SGX’s nominating and governance, and remuneration and staff development committees in 2013.

He said filling Choon Seng’s “big shoes” will be a difficult task.
