Trading and market access technology provider Vela has appointed a former executive and veteran of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as its new chief of staff.
Peggy Sullivan, who has served as a consultant for Vela since October 2017, will take up the role in New York overseeing the firm’s partnerships, advising on market structure developments and building relationships with key accounts.
She left NYSE in May 2017 after almost 20 years with the US exchange operator in various senior operations and market data roles.
Most recently Sullivan was vice president for strategic analysis and market data at the exchange. She has also served as the administrator to the Consolidated Tape Association for NYSE, and as the head of market data administration.
Sullivan will report to Vela’s CEO, Jennifer Nayar, who described the company’s new recruit as “well-recognised and well-respected” across the industry.
“She brings valuable insights as a problem solver and thought leader and her extensive knowledge and expertise in partnership management and market structure will be pivotal as we continue to build momentum on our strategic growth objectives,” Nayar added.
Sullivan has also held senior positions in trading and technology at Credit Suisse, Dow Jones Telerate and Bank of America Merrill Lynch during her career.
“Having seen how forward thinking, innovative, and client focused the Vela team are over the past nine months, I am delighted to be formalising my position as chief of staff,” Sullivan commented. “I look forward to continue working towards building stronger relationships with clients, partners, and market associations and contributing to the company’s strategic plans.”
