Hans-Ole Jochumsen, a Nasdaq executive and former head of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, it to retire at the end of the year, according to reports.
Jochumsen is well known in Europe for his role in uniting the Nordic exchange market. He merged Copenhagen and the Stockholm Exchange in 2005.
He was most recently vice chairman of Nasdaq but has held several roles in the group including as president of global trading and market services.
Jochumsen also played a leading role in several key acquisitions by Nasdaq, including its purchase of Chi-X Canada and a $1.1 billion deal for International Securities Exchange.
