Sarasin & Partners has appointed a former Odey Asset Management trader to join its ranks as a multi-asset dealer, The TRADE can reveal.
Neil Palan joins Sarasin & Partners as a multi-asset dealer after over 16 years with Odey Asset Management. Sarasin & Partners confirmed his appointment.
“Palan brings over 17 years of experience in the financial industry to the multi-asset team,” said a spokesperson for Sarasin & Partners.
“Prior to Sarasin & Partners, Palan was the head of treasury and multi-asset trader at Odey Asset Management. This appointment reflects Sarasin & Partners’ commitment to investing in top-tier talent and its forward-looking strategy. Palan’s wealth of experience and skill set will be instrumental in driving success and fortifying our capabilities to address the diverse needs of our investors.”
Palan began his career at State Street in 2006 as a fund administrator, joining Odey in a similar role just over a year later.
He subsequently served in a variety of roles including as treasury manager and head of treasury before moving into his most recent trader and head of treasury role in 2018.
Odey Asset Management announced it was set to begin winding down in October last year following allegations relating to its founder Crispin Odey. The firm confirmed in a statement in December that its last client mandate had come to an end.
“There is no doubt that 2023 has been an experience for all of us at the firms. We have discussed and thought about many different outcomes,” said Peter Martin, chief executive and partner, in a statement.
“All I can say is that the dedication and professionalism we have witnessed from all parts leaves us very proud to have worked with all our teams.”
