US trading technology company and agency brokerage ConvergEx Group has appointed Jim Karelas as head of transition management for the Asia-Pacific region. Karelas is based in Sydney, Australia and reports to Kal Bassily, head of global transition management.
Karelas was previously with J.P. Morgan in Sydney, where he was responsible for establishing the company’s transition management capabilities across Australia and Asia. Before that, he held a number of positions at MLC Investment Management and State Street.
“Jim brings with him many years of experience in the transition management space, excellent product knowledge and a wealth of relationships,” said Bassily. “He joins us at a time when we expect to achieve tremendous growth in Asia and Australia.”
ConvergEx Group provides technology products and services to asset managers and financial intermediaries over 100 global markets.
Formed in 2006, the firm has over 1,200 employees in 22 locations throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
ConvergEx Holdings, the parent company of ConvergEx Group, is currently in the process of being bought by funds advised by private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, in an all-cash transaction expected to close in the early autumn.
