Alpha FMC has announced the launch of a dedicated compliance practice which will be led by ex-Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulator, Andrew Glessing.
The move will see a dedicated compliance unit with the aim of helping clients deal with increasing regulatory burdens.
Glessing will head up the team and had been a manager at the FCA for seven years, overseeing FCA-regulated asset managers, platforms and outsourcing firms.
His appointment follows the hire of Mikko Ala-Ilomaki who joined Alpha FMC from Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management to play a senior role within the compliance unit at the firm.
Chief executive officer at Alpha FMC, Euan Fraser, said both hires will allow the firm to “deepen its capabilities” and “provide a new range of services to our clients.”
Glessing added there is a real need for more compliance services following high-profile regulatory directives like MiFID II.
He added: “… alongside the FCA’s asset management review in the UK, we are seeing an increased demand for compliance services from the asset and wealth management industry.”
Glessing’s new title at Alpha FMC is director and head of compliance practice and he will lead a team of nine within the compliance practice.
