RBC Capital Markets has named Simon Johnson as its new managing director, head of credit sales EMEA.
As part of the role, Johnson will oversee sales across RBC’s investment grade and high yield credit client base in Europe.
He joins RBC from Credit Suisse, where he held senior roles in the European credit sales team over the last 21 years.
Most recently, Johnson served as managing director, head of UK, hedge fund and Nordic credit sales.
Before joining Credit Suisse, he served as a repo trading assistant at Goldman Sachs.
Based in London, Johnson will report directly to Janet Wilkinson, co-head, FICC sales at RBC Capital Markets.
“This is a significant hire as the business continues to build its European credit business, expand its client footprint and drive revenue growth in the region,” said RBC in statement announcing Johnson’s appointment.
“During his career, he has built trusted client relationships through exemplifying strong values of partnership and collaboration, which will enable him to seamlessly transition into his role at RBC.”
Johnson’s appointment follows that of Michael Chesterton, who joined RBC as head of European futures and listed options sales and execution earlier this year.
Chesterton joined the firm from ED&F Man Capital Markets, where he served as head of futures and options multi asset sales and execution. Prior to that he held senior positions at Nomura and RBS Markets and International Banking.
