Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (SocGen) has appointed Mark Rice as global head of sales trading within the bank's execution services business.

From his new base in London, Rice will be responsible for coordinating the bank's equity sales trading teams globally, as well as strengthening the bank's cash equity product for institutional customers. Assisted by Richard Craddock, deputy global head of sales trading, he will report to Francois Banneville, global head of execution services, and Stephane Loiseau, deputy global head of execution services.

Rice joins SocGen from Macquarie Securities, the international cash equities, derivatives trading and securities financing arm of Australian financial services firm Macquarie Group, where he was most recently head of pan-Euro equity sales trading. Prior to that, he spent 22 years at Morgan Stanley in various managerial positions within the equities business, including head of sales trading for cash equities.

His appointment follows recent hires by Societe Generale in its UK equities team, including Edwin Hagan-Emmin and Pierre de Pelleport at the firm's London office earlier this month.

SocGen's global equity flow division offers global coverage across 65 markets, liquidity solutions, advanced algorithms and an integrated execution product encompassing equities, exchange traded funds and derivatives.
